Our ward decided this year to have a 'trunk or treat' on Halloween night. We arrived at the party about five minutes before it was officially suppose to start and we placed our jello with the three other sides that were present at the time. There were probably five other cars when we got there and very few people. So we both hoped that it was just because we were early that there were so few people. The event was suppose to start at 6:00pm, but with Mormon standard time (which we completely forgot about) it really didn't start till 6:30. There was a BBQ with hamburgers & hot dogs and many different side dishes by the time it started. The most exciting part of dinner for me (keep in mind this is prego-Allie speaking) was the homemade root beer. We sat, talked, and ate with a couple of friends whose calling in the ward is activities directors, so inevitably they asked us to be judges for the costume contest.
We were a little disappointed, because that meant we couldn't be in the contest, but we happily became judges. Now you all are probably wondering what we were for Halloween, but you'll have to wait till after we tell you about the costumes that we found to be the best. There was a family who came dressed up as the Scooby Doo clan. The youngest was Scooby Doo, the oldest was shaggy, dad was Fred, and mom was Velma. We gave them the best family costume award. Then there was a lady who came dressed up in scrubs with cereal boxes tapped to her and knives stabbed into the cereal boxes, can you guess what she was? We'll she earned the most creative award, and she was...... A Cereal Killer.... It is better when you actually see the costume in person, but we thought it was creative. Then I can't remember the other awards that we gave away, but those were two that stuck out in my mind.
As the night drew to an end we moved to the portion of the party where trunk or treat happened. Being the procrastinators that we are, we didn't decorate our trunk, but we did hand out candy. Which was shortly gone when the children started coming around for seconds.
Now you probably are saying but what did you go as. Well here are some clues:
- It is something that neither of us made.....
- I dressed in a white one and Greg had on a purple one....
- We didn't buy anything for the costume....
- Greg had it from High School days.....
- We used eyeliner to draw black rectangles under our eyes....
You probably have guessed by now, but we went as football players. I know it sounds cheesy but it was cheap, quick, and I could fit into it even with a pregnant belly. That was our Halloween night.
So there is our Halloween, sorry again about not having any photos.
